Amber strives to provide a welcoming and non-judgmental environment for her clients as they seek wellness and support amongst life’s transitions and challenges. Amber received her Bachelor’s degree in 2006 from Miami University and her Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Lenoir Rhyne University in 2021. Amber is a North Carolina board-certified licensed clinical mental health counselor associate (LCMCHA), a certified integrative life coach, and an experienced yoga teacher trained in advanced yoga therapeutics (RYT 500, YACEP), applying yoga techniques for optimal health and well-being. Amber had her counseling practicum experience at Children’s Hope Alliance, working with children and adolescents with a trauma history, self-harm behaviors, and chronic suicidal ideation. She completed her counseling internship here at Southlake Counseling, working with adolescents and adults with mood, anxiety, eating, and personality disorders and co-leading DBT skills trainings.

Amber enjoys working with adolescents and adults on a wide range of issues impacting well-being including, but not limited to, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, grief, bullying, self-esteem, body image, career exploration, sports performance, or just feeling "stuck" and dissatisfied with one’s direction in life. Amber’s passion for counseling developed from her own battle with chronic migraines and pain, anxiety, self-esteem, and childhood bullying. Amber is familiar with navigating careers and the workplace as a former IT consultant and program manager in the fast-paced corporate world and Amber has experience with sports performance as a former collegiate athlete and triathlete. Amber uses a person-centered approach as her foundation and tailors the treatment plan and counseling approach to each unique client and their needs, drawing from tenets of psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused brief counseling,.

When she is not in the office or teaching yoga, Amber enjoys spending time with her loved ones, gardening, hiking, or curled up with her dogs and a good book.
