Madelyn A. L. Harvey, PhD, LCMHC-A


 

Madelyn originates from the Island of Bermuda but has lived and worked in the United States for more than 22 years. She attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, where she obtained her master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, and later went on to obtain her Doctoral Degree in Human Services/Clinical Social Work from Walden University. Madelyn has a provisional license from the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHC-A).

Madelyn’s professional experience involves many years in child welfare working with children and families in cases of abuse and neglect. She has also worked as a mental health counselor in the school system addressing personal and social issues pertaining to adolescents. In addition, she has worked with domestic violence victims, and the elderly population. Some of the issues Madelyn has addressed with clients have been parent/child conflict; relationship issues; grief, and depression.

Madelyn’s approach to therapy is one of warmth, empathy, and attentive listening. In addition to supporting the DBT intervention model, she supports therapeutic models that help to empower individuals to bring about change and developing adequate coping skills. She is interested in working with clients who match her experience and expertise.
