DBT changes lives!
For those experiencing substance dependence or borderline personality disorder, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) can be helpful. This treatment (DBT-SUD, standing for substance use disorder) is similar to other DBT-style approaches as it includes the same strategies and protocols, while incorporating skills and treatment strategies specifically targeted to treat those with substance use disorder.
DBT-SUD is designed to help those clients who experience pervasive emotional dysregulation, or intense emotional responses they find difficult to change. Clients work in groups to train through standard DBT skills of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness as well as skills that will assist with their addiction. At Southlake, we provide therapy that provides the necessary skills to help our clients achieve their specific goals.
Our team of DBT-trained therapists are here to help our clients control their thoughts and emotions, and learn valuable skills that help curb damaging behaviors.
