TK earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UNC-Charlotte and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UNC-Greensboro. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in NC as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She has experience counseling in school, community, inpatient hospital, and University-based settings; and enjoys working with adolescents and adults.
TK has experience counseling a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, college student transition, self-esteem, and trauma. Additionally, TK holds dear the concerns and issues of the LGBTQ+ community; People of Color; and people of size struggling with their body image.
TK strives to help clients improve the quality of their lives, believing that ultimately we are the author of our own lives, and have the innate ability to change our narrative and create a new reality and behaviors that serve us.
Knowing that each person is unique, TK tailors her counseling approach according to their needs and worldview. As a foundation, TK takes a person-centered approach, honoring her client’s uniqueness and self-expertise, as well as valuing the relationship formed between them. She then utilizes and integrates principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing when working with clients.
In her free time, TK enjoys casual gaming, learning digital art, reading, and spending time with her loved ones.
